Many people in Europe do not own a car. Preparedness should still be practical. The plan simply needs to fit walking, cycling, public transport and smaller storage.
Keep home supplies manageable
Focus on essentials that stay at home: water, no-cook food, light, power, medicines and documents. Avoid buying heavy supplies that you cannot store or rotate.
Plan transport alternatives
Know walking routes to work, school, pharmacies and meeting points. Save offline maps where useful. If you cycle, keep basic repair items available.
Build a small carry kit
A small backpack can hold water, snacks, a power bank, rain layer, copies of key contacts and any essential medication.
Coordinate with others
If you may need transport support, discuss it before a disruption. Do not assume someone will be reachable during an incident.
